Tasting notes: A delicate and persistent bouquet with traces of licorice, rose, and tobacco. Full flavored, warm, and moderately tannic.
About the winery: After studying oenology at the University of Alba, Renato was employed by Cinzano in Brazil, supervising the production of vermouth and sparkling wines. In 1965, he returned to Piedmont and bought his first vineyard for the production of Barolo. Renato Ratti became an important point of reference for Langhe wines and Italian wines in general. He revolutionized Barolo wine, setting quality standards and taking part in writing the law that now enforces the rules of the Barolo appellation. Today, the Domaine is run by his son, Pietro, and his nephew, Massimo Martinelli.
