Tasting notes: Dark Purple with flashes of ruby. The nose has a balanced intensity, invitingly rich fruitiness with notes of dark cherry, prune, and blackberry held together with notes of mentholated balsamic, tobacco, and licorice.
About the winery: The magnificent 15th century Vignamaggio estate lies between the Italian towns of Florence and Siena, within the superior Chianti Classico zone, and surrounded by the picturesque, rolling hills of Tuscany. Vines have been cultivated in these hills for nearly 3000 years and it is here that Italy’s greatest concentration of ambitious winemakers is found. Today the estate makes wines reflecting both the traditions and potential of the Chianti terroir, using traditional local grapes Sangiovese and Canaiolo for some wines.
