Tasting notes: Appearing a shimmering red with purplish highlights, this Aglianico offers intense, long-lingering impressions of spice, wild blackberries, and ripe red berry fruit. The palate is warm, full-bodied, and velvet-smooth. This full-volumed wine, modern in style, demonstrates in an appealing and convincing fashion its intimate bond with its terroir of origin.
About the winery: The history of Villa Matilde began in the 1960s, when Francesco Paolo Avallone, a lawyer with a passion for ancient wines, decided to bring back to life a legendary wine, "Falernum", which had disappeared in the early 20th century. Today, the winery is managed by his children, who have single-mindedly dedicated themselves to their father's dream and winemaking project.
