Wine Region: Champagne - France

Grape
: Pinot Meunier

Tasting notes: "...showing nicely, wafting from the glass with delicately exotic aromas of mandarin orange, pear, musky peach, clear honey and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and vinous, it's fleshy and saline, with an enveloping core of fruit, lively acids and a long, mouthwatering finish" –William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

About the winery:
Champagne Christophe Baron is located in the western region of the Marne Valley, between Paris and Reims. Known as "The gates of Champagne", this region is the first area of Champagne a wine connoisseur enters when travelling from Paris.

The estate includes 3 hectares (7.5 acres) and its vineyard holdings are made up of only very old parcels of Pinot Meunier. With low yields from the old vines, production is very limited.

This grape is the traditional variety of the western sector of the Marne Valley and forms the foundation for Champagne Christophe Baron’s unique approach and vision. The domaine’s philosophy of “single vineyard, single vintage and single grape” allows the terroir to do the talking, putting an emphasis on each parcel’s distinct characteristics. This unusual approach to crafting Champagne draws heavily from the traditional farming and soil cultivation practices of the region.
