Tasting notes: On the nose, the wine reveals notes of raspberry, cranberry juice, sour cherries and a very light earthy side. Aging in old barrels brings superb oxygenation to the wine and allows for a perfectly accessible Burgundy upon opening.
The mouth is just as beautiful as the nose, we find this very sweet side with notes of acidulous fruits but also a touch of rustic character which brings length in the mouth.
About the winery:
Born in China, Seiichi Saito grew up in Japan before going to France to learn the profession of the winegrower. This Burgundy wine enthusiast then began training in oenology in Beaune, which enabled him to work for prestigious estates. After ten years in the Burgundy vineyard and a solid experience, Seiichi Saito decides to stand on his own feet and settles in Chorey lès Beaune; the Petit Roy estate was born in 2016. Today Seiichi Saito has a bit more of a hectare of vines on the Petit Roy estate, which he supplements with a little renting and purchase of perfectly selected grapes.
