Tasting notes: Intense in colour, the olfactory impact develops classic notes of red and black fruit, chocolate and liquorice, subtly enhanced by notes of toasted wood. The palate shows well-rounded and full, with a thick, dense tannic texture that boasts rich fruit and spice notes. The finish is prolonged with a lively and vibrant acid vein that closes on a note of intense freshness.
About the winery: The estate was created by the Marquis Ludovic Antinori in 1981. The Masseto is a reference in the region and one of the Super Tuscan. Today, this estate is owned by the Frescobaldi family who has combined tradition, experience and innovation with creativity and the pursuit of excellence. At the very heart of the winery lies the Estate’s wine vault, the Masseto Caveau. Bottles of every vintage since 1986 are preserved here, in perfect cellaring conditions, each suspended in its own stainless-steel mesh cradle.
Super Tuscan: term to describe some of the Tuscan's top red wines. To create higher quality, Tuscan producers began experimenting with non-indigenous varieties from Bordeaux, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
