About the winery:
In the heart of the woods, Chateau Rayas is a small ten-hectare vineyard that was planted in very poor, sandy soil producing wines with great finesse. In 1997, Emmanuel Reynaud inherited Chateau Rayas upon the death of his uncle, Jacques Reynaud. He also runs Domaine des Tours and Chateau de Fonsalette. Emmanuel intends to renew things in preserving the spirit that has reigned there since its origin.

Chateau Rayas is one of the most prestigious wines in France. This Chateauneuf-du-Pape's particularity is that the blend is almost only made of Grenache (98%), while the appellation accepts 13 grapes. Some connoisseurs would say it's the best of the appellation. The Pignan Cuvee from Rhone legend accounts for 20% of the Chateau Rayas' production, hailing from predominantly separate vineyards.
