Wine Region: Rhone-Valley - France Grape: Syrah, Viognier
Tasting notes: "The 2013 Côte Rôtie Montmain comes from the heart of the appellation and a steep hillside terroir just to the east of Grandes Places and La Viallière. It sports a deep ruby colour as well as abundant notes of black olives, bloody meat, smoked earth and dark fruits. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, rich and spiced, it reminds me of a Grand Cru Burgundy from the Côte de Nuits." - Wine Advocate
About the winery: It was in 1997 that Stephane Ogier joined the family estate, rooted for seven generations on the hillsides of Ampuis. After studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune, Stephane left home to work with some of the best winemakers in Burgundy and abroad. By taking over from his father Michel, he chooses to do specific work on his different terroirs in order to reveal the uniqueness of these places full of history.
