THIERRY ALLEMAND Cornas "Reynard" 2011

Wine Region: Rhone Valley - France

Grape: Syrah

Tasting notes: An expansive bouquet evokes dark berry fruit, Indian spices, violet candy and incense, enlivened by a smoky mineral nuance that forms in the glass. Savoury, sweet and penetrating on the palate, offering black raspberry, cherry liqueur and floral pastille flavours, accompanied by exotic five-spice powder and white pepper accents. Spicy, sweet and seamless on the extraordinarily persistent finish, showing velvety, harmonious tannins and resonant floral and blue fruit notes.

About the winery:
Thierry Allemand is a leading producer in the Cornas appellation of the northern Rhone, making wines from the Syrah grape. From less than 5 hectares, Thierry Allemand produces 3 wines with traditional winemaking processes. He does not claim to be organic but follows its precepts by treating his vines only with sulfur and copper. The ageing takes place in barrels of several wines for 24 months and sometimes less.
