Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

• It originated in the 17th century when Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc were crossed
  
• The grape is small & thick-skinned, which gives it a high proportion of tannic seed and skin to sweet flesh
• Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines including Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere
