Wine Region: Burgundy - France
Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting notes: The 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes has turned out especially well. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of raspberries, pomegranate, sweet spices, licorice and rose petals, it's full-bodied, layered and concentrated, its velvety attack segueing into a deep and voluminous core of fruit that's framed by lively acids and unusually refined tannins for this site. This is one of the most elegant and compelling Clos des Chêne that Bouley has produced to date. William Kelley - The Wine Advocate
About the winery:
Jean-Marc Bouley creates his domain in 1974 to which he will add, ten years later, his father's one. With his son, Thomas, they combine traditional methods and modern technology to produce concentrated wines, with good fruit, elegance and roundness. From 2012, Thomas runs the vineyard and intends to place his wines among the best of Volnay.
