Tasting notes: The red wine is a brilliant, deep, beautiful colour. Its intense, complex bouquet is full of charm, redolent of red- and black-berry fruit picked at peak ripeness. Hints of hand-made plum jam, blackberries, and blueberries are enhanced by the fresh, mineral overtones from this deep-gravel terroir.
Its elegant structure and finesse give it a well-integrated, very soft, silky mouthfeel. The good acidity of the fruit, combined with fresh minty overtones from the terroir, contribute to the overall balance and exquisite character of this fine red wine.
About the winery: Chateau Lespaut-Martillac is one of the oldest estates of Pessac-Leognan, with viticulture on an estate dating to the Roman era. It is perched on a beautiful gravel crest overlooking the village of Martillac. Chateau Lespaut-Martillac vineyards and winemaking reflect the originality of a Pomerol type blend with the characteristic Pomerol elegance. Since 2009, the owners have entrusted Oliver Bernard and his team from Domaine de Chevalier to the management of the estate.
