Wine Region: Burgundy - France
Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting notes: Clear and bright robe with a ruby to red colour. A blend of fresh red fruit and blueberry aromas on the nose. From the first sip, one discovers a rich and complete wine. Balance is omnipresent, between the freshness of small fruits and its generous texture, between delicate tannins and the sweetness of deep aromas. With each sip, the finesse combined with a great aromatic complexity will make this tasting a unique moment. After a few years of ageing, notes of plum and gingerbread can be detected.
About the winery:
Domaine Benoît Chevallier is a new estate in the village of Vosne Romanée, defying the trend of high vineyard prices in the appellation. Despite the challenges, they gained recognition by winning the Trophée des Jeunes Talents award in their first vintage. Benoît, formerly working in IT, returned to his hometown and revived the family winery after leasing the vineyard for ten years. The vineyards (4ha), including premier cru plots (Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Damodes, and Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots), were transitioned to organic farming practices during the lease period. Benoît focuses on sustainable vineyard management, employing techniques such as Guyot Poussard pruning, higher leaf canopy to optimize photosynthesis and provide enhanced protection for the fruit and using organic compost and treatments.
