Tasting notes: The 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle sous la Chapelle unwinds in the glass with generous aromas of ripe plums and berries mingled with licorice and spices. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, its rich, fleshy attack segues into an ample mid-palate, followed by a vibrant, mineral finish that reflects this sunny site's shallow soils.
About the winery:
Jean-Marc Bouley creates his domain in 1974 to which he will add, ten years later, his father's one. With his son, Thomas, they combine traditional methods and modern technology to produce concentrated wines, with good fruit, elegance and roundness. From 2012, Thomas runs the vineyard and intends to place his wines among the best of Volnay.
