Domaine JEAN-MARC BOULEY Volnay 1er Cru "Carelle sous la Chapelle" 2021

Wine Region: Burgundy - France

Grape: Pinot Noir

Tasting notes: The 2021 Volnay 1er Cru Carelle sous la Chapelle offers up aromas of smoke berries, plums, licorice and blood orange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, concentrated palate with a textural attack that segues into a mid-palate framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the taut, chalky finish. This terroir is characterized by rich but shallow red clays that give way to big chunks of fractured limestone, and perhaps that's why it always seems to deliver wines with a front-loaded attack but a structured finish. William Kelley - The Wine Advocate

About the winery:
Jean-Marc Bouley creates his domain in 1974 to which he will add, ten years later, his father's one. With his son, Thomas, they combine traditional methods and modern technology to produce concentrated wines, with good fruit, elegance and roundness. From 2012, Thomas runs the vineyard and intends to place his wines among the best of Volnay.
