Wine Region: Rhone Valley - France

Grape: Grenache

Tasting notes: Pleasant aromas of cherry, red fruits (strawberries, raspberries), sweet spices characterize this wine of finesse and power unparalleled in the appellation. Suave, generous on the palate, without heaviness. Chateau Rayas reaches peaks of smoothness in great vintages.

About the winery:
In the heart of the woods, Chateau Rayas is a small ten-hectare vineyard that was planted in very poor, sandy soil producing wines with great finesse. In 1997, Emmanuel Reynaud inherited Chateau Rayas upon the death of his uncle, Jacques Reynaud. He also runs Domaine des Tours and Chateau de Fonsalette. Emmanuel intends to renew things in preserving the spirit that has reigned there since its origin.

Chateau Rayas is one of the most prestigious wines in France. This Chateauneuf-du-Pape's particularity is that the blend is only made of Grenache, while the appellation accepts 13 grapes. Some connoisseurs would say it's the best of the appellation.
