HORSEPOWER "Fiddleneck" 2018

Wine Region: Washington - USA

Grape
: Grenache

Tasting notes: "New this year, the 2018 Grenache Fiddleneck Vineyard has a ruby core and slight garnet rim, expressing aromas of dusty rose petals, cherry blossom and elements of plum compote, dried orange zest, iodine and a soft stemmy essence. Medium to full-bodied, the wine displays a fresh, bright expression, firm mineral essence and spiced, red-fruited nature that sways with dusty red flowers and an undercurrent of red peppercorn. The wine ends a delightfully lingering finish with a subtly spiced petrichor note that brings me back for another sip. Just over 3,000 bottles were produced." – Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate

About the winery:
Christophe Baron’s latest project, Horsepower, gets its name from the draft horses that work its vines. Such an idea isn’t new: horses have worked vines since the dawn of time. But Horsepower is the first estate in America to be farmed this way exclusively. Like Cayuse Vineyards, Horsepower is farmed according to an astrological sowing and planting calendar, and entirely without the use of herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, chemical insecticides or fungicides.
