SAN POLINO "Rosso di Montalcino" 2018

Region: Tuscany - Italy

Grapes: Sangiovese

Tastings Notes: Aromas of blue flower, damp underbrush, leather and a whiff of game emerge from the glass. Despite the abv of 14.5%, it seems surprisingly light bodied, suggesting sour cherry, pomegranate and baking spice alongside buffed tannins and racy acidity.

About the Winery: San Polino is a tiny, family-run estate in Montalcino, Tuscany. It was founded in 1992 and is famous for its Brunello di Montalcino wines from the Sangiovese grape. The estate is located near Castello dell'Abate in the Val d'Orcia. San Polino farm 8 hectares (19.76 acres) of vineyards across various sites between San Polino and the north of Montalcino. For many years the family have been involved in a biodiversity mapping project in the Amazon jungle and have utilized similar techniques on their land.
