Domaine NICOLAS ROSSIGNOL Pommard 1er Cru "Epenots" 2019
Wine Region: Burgundy - France
Grape: Pinot Noir
Tasting notes: "Rossignol's terrific 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots wafts from the glass with aromas of plums, dark berry fruit, exotic spices, peonies, blood orange and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's deep and multidimensional, with a concentrated core of fruit, beautifully refined tannins and a long, lively finish. As is often the case, this old-vine cuvée is the highlight of the portfolio, and it will be worth a special effort to track down." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
About the winery: Part of the fifth generation, Nicolas joined the family estate in 1994. After a few experiences in the four corners of France and South Africa, he created his own Domaine in 1997. Today, both Domaines are merged, representing 17 hectares and more than thirty appellations.
Nicolas believes that the future of wine lies in innovation rather than sticking to the rules of the past. The vineyard is managed sustainably and also takes into account the lunar influence both for the work of the vine and for the development and ageing of the wines.
Wine Advocate: 96/100
