Wine Region: Burgundy - France
Grape: Chardonnay
Tasting notes: On the nose, the wine is expressed with great purity, with notes of pear, acacia honey and lemon. There are also nice touches of coriander and fresh almond. The palate is full-bodied, greedy and very fresh. A balance he has found through his work at Domaine Anne Claude Leflaive. A superb wine with a "neutral" appellation but well-worth wines from great appellations.
About the winery:
Born in China, Seiichi Saito grew up in Japan before going to France to learn the profession of winegrower. This Burgundy wine enthusiast then began training in oenology in Beaune, which enabled him to work for prestigious estates. After ten years in the Burgundy vineyard and a solid experience, Seiichi Saito decided to stand on his own feet and settled in Chorey lès Beaune; the Petit Roy estate was born in 2016. Today Seiichi Saito has a bit more of a hectare of vines on the Petit Roy estate, which he supplements with a little renting and purchase of perfectly selected grapes.
