Tuscany - Italy
Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot
This is a stunning and exuberant wine that drinks with beautiful intensity and personality. The 2015 Bolgheri Rosso Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia is made with fruit from the estate's young vines. Fruit from the older vines is instead directed to the top-shelf expressions. This is a complete and richly concentrated expression that drinks with seamless intensity. It pits power against elegance with confidence and grace. -
In the early 1970s, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, kickstarted the "Super Tuscans" category with Sassicaia. In 1981, his cousin, Lodovico Antinori, founded the Ornellaia estate on property neighboring the Sassicaia estate. Ornellaia released its first Tuscan Bordeaux blend in 1985 and celebrated the opening of its winemaking facility two years later. Ornellaia is located on the Tuscan Coast, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the section of the Northern Maremma between Livorno and the island of Elba.
As it is the tradition in Bordeaux, Ornellaia also produces a second wine, Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia.
